The production
facilities of the Film Studies Division are located in the Art and Architecture
Building on the lower university campus. Students working in either film or
video will enjoy a wide range of equipment for their use.
Production equipment
for 16mm film includes Aaton, Arriflex and Eclair cameras; DAT recorders and state of the art microphones. There is also excellent grip equipment available for
dramatic motion picture production: dollies, lights, stands etc. Film editing
is performed on Steenbeck 6-plate and Kem 8-plate flatbed machines with post-production
sound mixing through Pro Tools editing software.
Video production
formats include Digital-8, MiniDV, DVC Pro 25 and 50 using Panasonic
broadcast-quality cameras. Video editing is done on NLE systems which include Apple's Final Cut
Pro, and Avid Media Adrenaline.
Tradition animation facilities include an stand with high definition video or 16mm film cameras and a claymation studio. Computer animation
is produced on Macintosh using Maya.
The facility
also boasts a 6000+ title video and 16mm film library for scholarly research
purposes. There are also several theatres on campus that show 16mm and 35mm
film, and digital and VHS video.
