Elizabeth Conley has taught courses at the University of Utah since 1978. She earned an M.A. in Journalism with an emphasis in Mass Communication in 1974, and a J.D. from the University of Utah in 1986. Professor Conley is the co-author of the pioneering textbook Mass Media, published by Loyola University Press and the award-winning Me and My TV, published by the Journalism Education Association. She is former editor of the Television Studies newsletter of that organization and has contributed several articles to that publication. Professor Conley has also presented numerous papers and conducted workshops at communication and film conferences.

A past shareholder with the Salt Lake City law firm of Parsons, Behle, and Latimer and clerk for Federal District Court Judge, Bruce Jenkins, Professor Conley has combined her expertise in film studies and law to create new courses in Film and the Law and American Political Cinema.
