Sam Boyer’s Upcoming Project featured in Deadline
Assistant Professor Sam Boyer was recently featured in Deadline for his upcoming Morroco-set action-thriller project, set to be produced by Emily in Paris star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
Boyer wrote the film— and plot details are currently under wraps— but Loyer-Beaulieu says that, according to deadline, as a producer she is focusing on “projects that foreground bold, mature female protagonists within an international framework.”
Boyer is an Indonesian-American writer who works across genres and formats to tell stories about outsiders caught between cultures. He is an alum of the Academy Nicholl Fellowship, the CAPE New Writers Fellowship, and Hollywood’s annual Black List.
In the world of screenwriting, Sam has sold or optioned scripts to a number of studios and production companies. He has also been paid to write for video games, streaming series, awards shows, and even the odd short story. He earned his BA from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and his MFA from UT-Austin’s Michener Center for Writers, where he taught as a visiting professor before coming to the U.
Boyer’s project with Leroy-Beaulieu is currently in development. Watch this space for more updates as they come!
