“The Whole Lot,” a self-financed feature-length drama from Utah writer Matthew Ivan Bennett and College of Fine Arts alumnus Connor Rickman, will have its world premiere on closing night of the 2022 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival.
Last week, filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung visited the Film & Media Arts Department here at the University of Utah. During his visit, Chung sat down with students for a Q&A over lunch, where he offered valuable insights into filmmaking.

Lee Isaac Chung
CFA Distinguished Alumni Award Winner (2022)
Isaac’s film Minari won the US Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the US Dramatic Audience Award at Sundance and the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was also nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Christine is an award-winning producer of artist-driven independent films. Her credits include Darling Companion starring Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline; The Turin Horse, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival; director Todd Solondz’s acclaimed Life During Wartime; and the Oscar-nominated American Splendor.

Trent Harris
Trent is a luminary in the world of cult and underground filmmaking. His films have played at major festivals including Sundance, Raindance, and the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and have been celebrated in retrospectives at film societies around the world. His credits include Rubin and Ed; Plan 10 from Outer Space; The Beaver Trilogy; and Luna Mesa.

Max Adams
Max is an award-winning author and screenwriter best known for the cult favorite Excess Baggage starring Alicia Silverstone, Benicio del Toro, and Christopher Walken. She is a winner of the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting and the author of The New Screenwriter’s Survival Guide.

Anayat Fakharie
Anayat has written episodes of Gaslit starring Julia Roberts and Sean Penn and the forthcoming series Orphan Black: Echoes. He spent six years on the production team for HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.

Dean is Vice President of Animation Production for Nickelodeon Animation Studios. A two-time Daytime Emmy Award winner, his credits include Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness and The Penguins of Madagascar.
